Morgan Company Acquires Former Smokey Bones Site in Fort Lauderdale

Morgan Company, a Fort Lauderdale-based real estate investment and development firm, today announced that its affiliate, Federal Highway Realty LLC, has acquired the former Smokey Bones property at 6500 N Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for $5,400,000.

The 2-acre site features an existing 7,556-square-foot freestanding building and is positioned along the highly trafficked Federal Highway corridor.  The property was previously occupied by Smokey Bones restaurant.  The seller, Rubenstein Florida Properties LLC, was represented by Bill Rotella and Michael Rotella of The Rotella Group, with Scott Copeland of On Course Development serving as co-broker.

“Fort Lauderdale is our firm’s hometown, and we have a long history of developing assets on Federal Highway,” said Trey Morgan, President of The Morgan Company. “We are thankful to all involved in this transaction and hope to announce a new vision for the property soon.”

The Morgan Company plans to evaluate redevelopment and repositioning opportunities for the site, consistent with the firm’s broader strategy of developing strategically positioned retail properties throughout the Southeast.
